“Congratulations to our Director of Finance, Carrie Domer and her team! The Finance team was presented the Ohio Auditors Award with Distinction for excellence in financial reporting related to the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and compliance with applicable laws for the fiscal year ending in 2022 in 2023. The agency received the Auditor’s Award with Distinction in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2020, 2021 and 2022 as well. The Finance team also received the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This marks the 20th consecutive year SARTA has been recognized by the GFOA. The certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management."
Over his twenty-six years of service at SARTA, Tim has seen the switch from diesel powered buses to hydrogen fuel cell buses. His dedication to SARTA through diagnostic abilities and attendance is outstanding. Tim is one of two technicians that have been able to achieve hydrogen status in the agency.
Congratulations to our Director of Customer Relations, Latrice Virola, and the SARTA Marketing comprised of Ebony Fontes and Tim Montgomery! Recently the team received an AdWheel from the American Public Transit Association (APTA). The award, given to APTA members, recognizes the marketing and communications efforts of public transportation agencies throughout the country. SARTA received the award for their Community Partner campaign in early 2023 as part of the 25th SARTAversary Celebration! This AdWheel was the marketing teams third in the past five years and is one of the highest marketing awards a Transit Agency can receive.

Donnie has been a non-CDL operator at SARTA since 2013. Donnie is a valued employee who is always prepared and ready to assist everyone daily. He is dependable and treats all his passengers with a professional and courteous attitude.

Bunyan has worked in the SARTA Service Department for over 10 years. He not only ensures the vehicles are fueled and cleaned daily, he also gets the buses prepared to go back into service the next morning.
Adam’s technical experience and vast breadth of knowledge of networking, as well as his dedication to SARTA, have been crucial to the success of the IT department over the last 15 years.

Kathy has worked as a SARTA coach operator for over 26 years. Kathy’s dedication and kindness towards the residents of Stark County is notable, whether she is operating on our fixed routes or one of our Proline vehicles.
As a SARTA employee for over 16 years, Michelle’s career has evolved over her tenure, beginning as a coach operator prior to her role as a Road Supervisor. Michelle uses knowledge of our routes to assist her in her new role as a SARTA Dispatcher.

Bill started out in maintenance as a technician before advancing to the role of supervisor. One of Bill’s main responsibilities is to ensure that SARTA has enough buses inspected and cleaned each morning to allow for the fleet to meet pull-out.
Worked most of 2023 cleaning up the records room and getting rid of old records (100+ boxes). Continues to improve the process for the future and working on training for proper storage of SARTA records.

Seth Stutzman is a dedicated and hardworking employee. He goes over and beyond by showing up early, ready to work each day, and volunteering to stay late. Seth is part of the Proline committee and always demonstrates great character.
When Ty Peters received a call asking for a client’s personal info, it raised red flags, and she did not share it. Ms. Peters notified the client, who was extremely grateful for the diligence that SARTA took to ensure her privacy.

Kevin has become a leader not only in maintaining the hydrogen fuel cell fleet but also in the training and advancement of other technicians. Kevin works to ensure that the hydrogen fleet is operational by improving his knowledge and skillset through hands-on training to diagnose and repair the fleet.
Sheila has won the hearts of employees by supporting their needs as HR Administrator. She has also been a trendsetter in transformation to health and wellness. And we can’t forget how she gives of her own accord to make sure SARTA feels like home with her decorations placed throughout the administrative offices.
